Hardshell has been selected to exhibit at the Deep Tech Startup Crawl, the headline event of Deep Tech Week Washington, on Thursday, September 10 at the JBG Smith Experience Center in the National Innovation Quarter. Technical.ly announced the lineup on September 8. More than 100 startups applied, and 40 were selected across autonomy, applied AI, bio, energy, cyber and a category the organizers call sci-fi. Hardshell was selected in cyber.
The crawl is co-hosted by Squadra Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank and Technical.ly. Deep Tech Week Washington is the event series' debut in the National Capital Region, with more than 25 events and 3,000 registered attendees across the week, and the crawl puts the 40 selected companies in one room for a night of demos with founders, investors and the national security community.
Technical.ly's one-line description of Hardshell: "Makes sensitive data safe to use with AI by measuring AI knowledge base leaks, catching extraction live, and hardening data upstream." That is what the team will be showing at the table: live-fire testing of what an AI knowledge base can be made to leak, telemetry that shows which documents retrieval actually returns and to whom, and hardening of sensitive data before it reaches training, fine-tuning or retrieval. The company works with mid-market firms and federal mission partners putting enterprise AI to work on sensitive data.
